Kayak

Disfruta explorando la zona en kayak.

If becoming completely submerged in the clear waters of Costa Maya isn’t quite what you had in mind, try one of our glass bottom kayaks. Our Peek-a-Boo vessels allow guests to glide silently over seagrass beds where baby reef fish, sea turtles, starfish, and urchins hide from predators. With the stability our wider kayaks provide, even the most challenged among us will be able to enjoy the beauty of the underwater world. If you are not the individual sailor you thought you once were, we even have double kayaks so you can glide along with a friend.

This natural wonder is a barrier for four different countries; Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. It is a protected site for many populations of endangered sea life and is home to the world’s largest population of manatees, with somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 of these large creatures. Our area of the reef, continuing down south to Belize, was declared a World Heritage Site in 1996 by UNESCO. Having the opportunity to witness this protective reef as it sustains life to so many plants and animals is quite the experience. Many species make their way towards the shoreline where easier viewing is possible. But just watching life in the wild and knowing you are a part of it is most amazing.

During your stay with us you will have kayaks at your disposal free of charge. We encourage guests to take to the waters and try to meet some of our very special ocean friends. Not every day is a jackpot day, but then, not every day is a day on the beach in the Caribbean, either.
